I take the view that history happens from the ground up. The big picture of society is a tapestry, woven from individual strands; from our lives, and our stories. I want to help people preserve these stories for generations to come by helping to write their memoirs. Whether it’s to be shared with family or shown to the world, I can help.

ABOUT ME

I’ve worked as a professional writer for over a decade. The work I was previously doing, for an international publisher and for various websites, left me feeling unsatisfied; I wanted to do something with more of a direct human connection. After training as a secondary school teacher, teaching in Italy, Greece, and London, and working in charity and non-profit roles, I found what I was looking for through writing memoirs. It involves all of my passions, including my love of oral history and my lifelong interest in learning about the interesting people in our world. I’ve got dozens of books behind me, now. I love my work, and I’ve never looked back.

I take pride in channelling a client’s voice, so that those reading the book (now, or in the future) will be able to ‘get to know’ the person, almost as if the subject is sat down next to them. I see my role as something like an actor’s, whereby I tune into the client’s voice and stay on that wavelength during the writing process. So far I’ve written for a wide range of clients, including a man who grew up in the dusty West Texas of the 1940s, a Geordie coal miner, a woman who moved from Spain to England in the 1960s, a man from a British political dynasty, and various wonderful people from California, New York, the Caribbean, London, Ukraine, and Australia. I take regular feedback from each client, so if you’re looking for a more formal tone, say, or something more easy-going, I’ll tweak the book accordingly.

I bring painstaking attention to detail to each book, working hard to ensure that all of your cherished memories have their place in the narrative. Where necessary, I use national archives and other research tools to fill in gaps or verify information. It’s not just a story, to me; it’s history.

Each book is written with care by me. No AI, no robots.
